Syrian Rebels Using German World War 2 Era StG 44 Assault Rifle In Combat

Video footage resurfaced showing Syrian rebels using the German Made STG 44 (Sturmgewehr 44) or also called MP 44 in fighting and firefights on the battlefield in Syria.

Syrian rebels already claimed to have captured about 5000 of this automatic rifles from the Syrian army in 2012 but other footage now shows them using it in action during fighting with the Syrian army.

Also a number of pictures were released showing rebels using the STG 44 in various ways.

The most impressing usage is proberbly the Remote Control Sturmgewehr 44 as one picture shows.

The STG 44 or MP 44 is a German made World War 2 - era assault rifle that had a major impact on modern infantry small arms development.

It was designed 1942 by the German designer Hugo Schmeisser.

The StG 44 fulfilled its role admirably, particularly on the Eastern Front, offering a greatly increased volume of fire compared to standard infantry rifles and greater range than submachine guns.
