Di'int Do Nuffins Files: cops catch Jokester by following blood trail

A man suspected of breaking into a Lincoln Street apartment Sunday was arrested after officers followed a trail of blood from an injury he got when the tenant's boyfriend stabbed him, police said.Police were called to an apartment on the 700 block of Lincoln Street around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. A female tenant told police two men forced their way into her home and told her and her boyfriend to leave, Capt. James Sarnicki said in a statement.

The boyfriend tried to call 911, but one of the men took his cell phone and broke it. The boyfriend, whose name was not released, then grabbed a knife and stabbed one of the burglars in the shoulder, Sarnicki said.

The two men then ran from the building. Police said they followed a blood trail and found 23-year-old Jokester Wilson, Jr., bleeding from a shoulder wound, on the 1100 block of McCandless Street.

Wilson was charged with burglary and theft, after an investigation by Detective Kenneth Mikolajczyk. Police believe the incident may have been related to a landlord-tenant dispute.

Wilson was also arrested on contempt warrants out of Linden, Elizabeth, Roselle and Union, Sarnicki said.

The fire department's ambulance crew treated Wilson's injuries at police headquarters, and he was taken to Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth after booking for additional treatment.

Wilson is being held on $30,000 bail and due in court on March 13, Sarnicki said.

Police have not identified the second burglar, and the investigation is ongoing.
