14 Dashcam footage show struggle with K-9 before deadly shooting in Greenville County
Greenville, SC - Dashcam footage shows a Landrum man was involved in a lengthy car chase and a 31-minute discussion with Greenville County Sheriff's Office deputies before officers shot him to death in November. Jacob Paul McCarty, 27, held a gun to his neck when deputies threw a flashbang grenade and then released a dog that grabbed McCarty’s left arm as he struggled to hold the gun to his head with his right arm, according to videos of the incident released to The Greenville News as part of the Freedom of Information Act. When McCarty appears to wave the gun toward deputies during the tussle with the dog, deputies opened fire from feet away and McCarty fell to the ground, according to the videos. McCarty died from his wounds at the hospital.
