Falling tree on the Isle of Wight.

I felled this tree because the owner asked me to as a favor.
It was planted by the owners ancestors in 1745, sadly it was damaged in the great 1987 storm, the same storm that the Isle of Wight holds the English wind speed record for.(120mph) The damage caused rot pockets and because of this rot the tree kept shedding branches near the owners staff and property. On day it could have killed somebody.
English Beech trees are mature at 120 years to 160 years and over 200 are considered truly post mature. Forest managers in the UK are well aware of this so when property and lives are at stake, when damage, disease or rot becomes apparent the trees must come down or at least be made safe.
Felling (or falling in the USA) is the less costly option.
Thanks to a chap called Nick Mills for filming this.

Oh yes I do like Axe Men programs from the USA, but I wish they would stop shouting at each othe
