"About 1 in 25 prisoner under death sentence in US not guilty"

A newly released report says about one in 25 prisoners under a death sentence in the United States is likely innocent. The study, appearing in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, says that since 19-77, one thousand three hundred and twenty defendants have been executed and several of them were almost certainly not guilty. The author of the report says the great majority of the innocent people who are sentenced to death are never identified and freed. In 20-13, nearly 40 prisoners were executed in the United States and over 32 hundred were on death row. Many states, such as Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Ohio, and Arizona, regularly execute convicted murderers.
