Some 60 haredim clashed with police officers on Sunday in Jerusalem's Shabbat Square while burning trash cans and shouting out against the removal of graves in Ashkelon and Jaffa. No injuries or arrests have been reported thus far.

In addition, a rally in being held in the capital's Geula neighborhood in protest against the removal of the graves in the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon. Eda Haredit leader Rabbi Yitzhak Tuvia Weiss, as well as other rabbis, is scheduled to speak at the rally.

  • I saw this story on the news tonight and they said archeologist long ago discovered the graves are actually christian and pagan burials.

    I mean come on, they are treating them with respect, relocating them and quit possible saving lives from future rocket attacks with a bomb shelter, it should be a no brainer.

    ppl here are completly fed up with the behavior of the ultra-ortodox.

    its seems that if it will continue this way a major civil confrontation between the ortodox and regular israelis is only a matter of time...
