  • The coolest truck in the business. In Fairfax County Virginia, where I was a firefighter, our tallest ladder truck was 135 feet, that is more than TEN STORIES HIGH. As part of graduating, you had to climb that ladder, in full battle rattle w/ SCBA, while it was pointing straight into the sky. No building to rest the ladder on like a normal ladder, just nothing but sky around you. When you start, the ladder is wide, comforting. As you ascend, the ladder narrows, and keeps getting skinny and begin More..

    • @stalker6recon When I was student in Switzerland, I was doing a voluntary service with Firefighters. I climbed a 10-story ladder. It was an amazing experience! It was in their parking lot with the ladder fully extended towards the sky. Not supported by anything :)

The first element is very stable. As it is supposed to support everything else, it was the most solidly built. But element after element, they get lighter and smaller.

The last one is made if tubes thinner than my finger. With t More..

Been there buddy, but only with a 100 foot ladder. Still ball shrinking enough though. Im not afraid of heights at all but something about being at the top of a straight up skinny arse ladder swaying in the breeze 110 ft in the air does not sit well in my stomach at all. And like you said, if you showed the slightest bit of fear the instructors would make you do it again...but perhaps they would move it around on you a bit while you did.

    • @Nor_Cal_Grown Typical conservative idiocy: work yourselves into a lather about how we have to do whatever it takes to stop things like Steinle's death, but when asked about common sense gun legislation to prevent things like the 58 killed in Vegas, or the 26 killed in Sutherland Springs, or the 50 killed in Orlando, just a meek little shrug from you guys. Pathetic...

How did that "common sense" gun legislation work in Paris?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/November_2015_Paris_attacks

You think that the shooters in Vegas, Sutherland Springs, or Orlando had much regard for gun legislation, or laws in general? I think them murdering dozens of people goes to show that they would have little respect for your "common sense" gun legislation.

Your "common sense" legislation will increasingly limit the protection av More..

  • This is a Tiller Ladder. The rear end is operated by an independent driver. The one in our city is 110'ft. long. The 2nd operator is needed to navigate narrow streets and tight curves. They are long trucks and the "Tiller Man" can counter steer the back wheels (has its own independent axle) to get through tight spots. If a guy has to make a sharp right turn to get down a narrow street, the tiller will counter steer left to make the back end swing out and straighten the truck out. Other More..

  • "Trumped" this serves to show how words change.
This word used to mean a win, but now it just means a sad loser.
The rescue truck was spot on though.

no it actually is a gauge to show who is an ignorant enemy of America, and who is a patriot American (those who don't get Trump are enemies, those who do always did because they're patriots). fact!

You are totally a moron! Trump is a nut job! Exactly as your post! Get these facts!

The fire truck did brake hard to avoid collision with ongoing traffic. The drift saved him from hitting other cars, pure to luck there were no cars in-between. If he caused an accident, he will be fired on spot! The cost for insurance claim and the destruction on the fire truck weight much more than a stunt, you blindness associate that to Trump!

So you tie your patriotism to your politicians?

    • @RS2050 Before you go calling people a moron you need to get your facts straight. This truck isn’t drifting into traffic uncontrolled and about to cause an accident.

If you looking closely you can see the trailer wheels turn into the lane. It’s got an independent steering axle! In fact, I believe this kind of truck even has a second steering wheel so that axle is being controlled by another firefighter.

I’m honestly pissing myself laughing at you fact checking someone and getting y More..

  • I drove a 90' Quint Snorkel. A beast 45' long with the bendy end of the boom (that's the technical term) jutting out 8 feet in front of the cab and just above drivers line of sight so you were apt to forget it was jutting out there.
One time got too close to a box truck and nearly punched out his back rollup door. Another time at an intersection a crossing box truck nearly clipped the boom poking out into the intersection. Ended up hanging a stuffed monkey tell-tail from the end so I could know More..

That is some good stuff. I was never a driver, so I don't have the detailed knowledge that you do, I was the mattydale guy, putting the wet stuff on the red stuff. I was never a pumper, too much math for me, and I don't like math, I like pressure.
