Iranian helicopters 'attack' Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq

Raids by Iranian helicopters have taken place in the border region of Kurdistan.

Local television in Kurdistan has announced that combat helicopters were used in the border clashes.

Kurdish military officials have said the Iranians did not violate Iraqi airspace but flew parallel to the border, shooting into Iraqi territory.

Iran's military also shelled Kurd positions.

Iran has been objecting to cross-border activities of Kurdistan rebels.

Turkey also bombed positions of the terrorist Kurdish Workers' Party, along its border with Iraqi Kurdistan, several times in the past week.
