Avalanches - Alaskan Heli-Skiing

...Some crazy shots. The avalanches ridden at the beginning and end are amazing in that no one was hurt...
Director/Editor: Team Thirteen

We shot, edited, and did the motion graphics for this piece that was in the movie 'Respect'. It tells the story of dealing arriving in AK with a gung-ho crew that didn't realize there was a huge avalanche danger. Neither did our guide, who pointed us down some slopes on our first run of the trip that slid. After that, we played it safely, skiing slopes that if they did slide would not result in a burial. After two weeks, our confidence in the snowpack grew as it had time to settle out. This lead to over-confidence (again) and also lead to the final big avalanche of the trip on the very last run of the trip. A humbling experience.
