Russian 5th Generation Fighter First Flight

The Sukhoi PAK FA / T-50 stealth fighter jet made its maiden flight January 29th. Russia has been developing its 5th generation fighter since the late 1980s. The successful test
flight was piloted by Sergey Bogdan and lasted 47 minutes.
The PAK FA / T-50 will be one of the most advanced aircraft on the planet, a stealthy and powerful air superiority fighter
with advanced sensors and deadly weaponary. Current plans
call for another 5 to 10 years of testing before production.
The US F-22 is currently the only 5th generation fighter in active service, soon to be joined by the F-35.

  • I'm impressed. Ruskies are making progress.
Russia is now only 20 years behind US.
First flight of YF-22 has been done in 1990.

    • Yes, F-22 was built to match Su-27 and Su-35.

So it's the US who's behind.

Moreover, F-35 is partly a copy of the Soviet Yak-141 who was bought by the USA after the USSR had disappeared.

    • Show me a single russian stealth aircraft in the service.
That's what I'm talking (or writing) about.
