Woman fatally shoots man at Houston gas station then films his body

HOUSTON—A rifle-toting woman shot and killed a man Sunday evening during an altercation at a gas station in southeast Houston, and it was all captured on surveillance video.

It happened just before 7 p.m. in the 6800 block of Cullen Blvd. at a gas station, according to Houston police.

Surveillance video shows a woman dressed in camouflage shorts and a white T-shirt arguing with a man near the gas pumps. At some point, she pulls out a rifle from the trunk of her vehicle and points it at the man.

That's when the man swung at her, knocking her backwards. The woman aimed her rifle directly at the man and fired off several rounds. To witnesses’ surprise, she then pulled out her cellphone and recorded the body lying on the ground.

The victim, identified by family members as 58-year-old Lewis Daniels, died at the scene. A
knife was also found on the ground near his body.

“Well, my brother is harmless," said Darryl Daniels, the victim's brother. "He’s harmless and he wouldn’t have hurt her. He wouldn’t have hurt nobody. She just didn’t know him. Because if she’d have known my brother, she’d have known that 'Poochie' wouldn’t have hurt nobody.”

The brother said he didn’t believe Daniels knew the shooter and that he was most likely at the store buying a pack of cigarettes before planning to catch the bus.

The woman fled the scene, but a witness recorded her license plate number, which was given to police.

Police tracked her down and took her in for questioning.
