The RCMP have arrested a suspect in connection with an incident in
rural Alberta that left two Mounties wounded and another man dead.
In a statement released Friday morning, the RCMP said they arrested
27-year-old Sawyer Clarke Robison in a rural area about 160 kilometres
southeast of Edmonton.
He was apprehended without incident during a roadside stop between Killam and Edmonton, police said, and is now in custody.
Although Robison was initially described as a person of interest in
the case, police on Wednesday charged him with two counts of attempted
murder. Issuing a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest, the Mounties said
he might have fled as far away as Ontario.
"There was some speculation he may have gone further to get away from
the scene of the crime, but clearly that didn't happen," CTV reporter
Bill Fortier said in an interview from Edmonton Friday.
