Police K-9 Takes Chunk Out Of Suspect's Face During Traffic Stop

No video of actual bite. Aftermath photo only.

Cherokee Nation Marshall Service conducted a routine traffic stop of a vehicle last Thursday evening. Very few details have been released but Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin said, "The Marshal's K-9 detected a positive hit for narcotics on the vehicle." During the stop the K-9 bit Emily Newman on the left cheek.

This was not Newman's first brush with the law. She has pleaded guilty to a number of crimes, including assault and battery on a police officer. Drug charges stemming from this incident are pending. The K-9 has been removed from service during the ongoing investigation.
