Tanker truck carrying diesel fuel rolled over and burst into flames

CHICAGO
A tanker truck carrying diesel fuel rolled over on an exit ramp on Interstate 55 today, causing major traffic delays and injuring the truck driver.

The ramp runs from the southbound lanes of I-55 to northbound Lemont Road. The truck tried to make its way around the circular ramp, and then rolled over and burst into flames.

The flames were burning the tanker truck itself and surrounding shrubbery.

The driver of the truck had been injured.

A spokeswoman for the Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District said all units were on the scene and multiple alarms have been called for the accident.

"Everything is out there," she said at 4:45 p.m."It started as a box alarm and has just been raised."

A spokeswoman for the Bolingbrook Fire Department said their units were providing mutual aid, but had no further details as of 4:40 p.m.
