28-year old Kansas man killed by police after phony swatting call was made to police

A Kansas man shot to death by police earlier this week was the victim of a misdirected online gaming;prank; known as swatting, authorities said Friday.

The victim, Andrew Finch, was gunned down Thursday night after cops received a 911 call from a man who claimed he had shot his father and was holding his mother and younger brother
hostage.

I shot him in the head and he's not breathing anymore; the caller said, according to a recording released by WPD.

But investigators say the disturbing tale was made up by a;prankster; to get a SWAT team to descend on an address.

As it turned out, the caller gave cops Finch's address, believing it belonged to a person he had gotten into a heated argument with over a $1 or $2 ;Call of Duty; wager.

  • Yah if you want to murder someone just call the police. Seriously even if I get robbed, I wont report it to the police because I don't want them anywhere near me, my family, my dog! They even kill people reporting crimes. lol Bunch of psychopaths the police departments have become because they chased all the good people out so they could transform them into departments of extortion/taxation. Just goes to show how base and racist many black Americans truly are. Every time a white person is killed by a black person, regardless of the motive or circumstances, it's payback. Either for slavery or for some career criminal (innocent chile) who got smoked by a cop. Nine Somalis on that police force. Being Somali was the ONLY reason he was hired. Needless to say, there will be no rioting, looting or attacking black people if he's not charged.

He then lowers his arms and steps back partially into the doorway and then he directly points something at the cops. Justified, even if the pretense was false! The fake caller has intentionally false reported a crime, which is a crime, which means the fake caller gets a capital murder charge.

I'm not sure if this is still law, but in some US states if you & a friend committed a robbery & the police killed your friend then you can be charged for his murder as they presume you'd know that committing a robbery could lead to someone being killed. If you used that scenario with this case and they could prove the caller knew or had considered there was a chance the victim would get shot, that could be considered murder. The caller was a dick but he did see More..

Instead of accurately identifying the situation the cop executed a cooperative unarmed perp that had done nothing wrong. This was completely avoidable. There was no legitimate reason to shoot him there regardless if the call was accurate. That could of very well been a hostage.
