    • @Turkoglu Yep. If someone could find this on Google Maps, you could calculate his speed based on the distance he traveled, give or take a couple MPH. I'd guess he was speeding, or at least, traveling 40mph on that skinny ass road through what appears to be a busy ass intersection. I blame both.

Absolutely, I know what 40km/h looks like, and I know what it looks like on a dash cam. This guy was easily doing 60+. Doesn't take much to stop if your only going 40

I was bored so I found it and calculated it. He was travelling along Bay Avenue and went from Fifth Street to Quadra street in under 5 seconds. This means he was going at least 70 kph (43 mph) in a 40 kph zone. Fucker could have his license suspended for excessive speeding

  • He came out of the opposing lane, not "outta nowhere". "Unavoidable", it doesn't even appear the guy in the car with the camera braked. What is this, a video made as a CYA for an accident lawsuit?

    • @Helios40 You can't see it, but the driver of the car rips his neck brace off right after the accident and stows it under the seat

    • @Helios40 Cammer would not have known the black VW was going to turn left as his view ahead was obstructed by the stationary vehicle to his left at the lights, plus the left indicator was not on/flashing.

I'm not saying that that I'm sure of my points here, I was just raising some questions. The time lag between the car coming into view was sufficient to break and/or swerve it seems to me. It's clear the guy turning left did break when he saw the other car coming.

From your comment alone I can tell you don't have much driving experience.
How long have you been driving?
I'm not the cunt's attorney, but merely making an assessment of the accident.
      Time lag? lol
This isn't a game, there's no such thing as time lag on the roads.
      The dashcam's footage is real-time.
What you see in this footage is from the dashcam's perspective and not the driver's.
      There is a difference.
If you own a dashcam, you'd understand this.

Sorry I ran into an Aussie with a sensitive vag, I am just having a discussion here. I have well over a million miles of driving experience. Time lag in this use is the difference between when you see a situation and react. Average reaction time is .03 seconds from observation to action (brake or swerve in this case). The driver turning left saw the guy with the dash cam at the same time the dash cam guy saw him, and he reacted, while the dash cam guy didn't. I have a dash cam More..

  • I would have slowed down a tad with that car blinking to turn on my side of the road. I always slow down when visibility is impaired, no matter who is on the right. You never know what a halted vehicle might be waiting for, blinding you from. Could have been another turning car (as it was), or a kid might have seized the opportunity to make a run for the crossing (a much worse scenario). There´s a huge range of "unavoidable" scenarios you can avoid driving defensively. And sure, while More..

You entered a busy intersection at full speed and didn’t leave room to stop.

Could have been a kid jaywalking, and you’d have killed him.

There is a thing called defensive driving where in situations like these- blind intersections- you gently tap the brakes in case something pops up.

You had a full car length to stop but you didn’t.

I like how you think. This type of accident is very preventable as it happens all the time in traffic. Not a day goes by when I'm on the road and encounter such a condition, slow down, be ready to stop, cause you know someone is going to be turning even though you can't see them...

  • Collision was avoidable, in situations like this when a clar blocks your vision it is wise to slow down a little (Say to 30-40km/h) which would then allow you to honk/flip the guy off and save yourself a nice little cara crash.

    Posted Jan-3-2018 By

  • Well it was avoidable, you just had to slow down and notice that the incoming lane couldn't see shit because of the pickup truck blocking their view, instead of being an ass ans speeding through even if you had a green light...

    I did the research
If you calculate from the three poles: it's 48.16 meters
Then the time to pass them ~3.7 seconds. Divide Meters by seconds.
    Thats 13m/s or 46.8Kph
So he was only going ~7Kph over speedlimit

You pricks slow down on a green light, also slowing me down, and then when the light turns amber you gun it through the intersection leaving me at the red. Asshole.

You slow down when the situation requires it.... NOT at all intersections.
