Migrant benefits approach branded "gesture politics" by UKIP

The government's new approach to migrant benefit claimants has been branded as "gesture politics" by UKIP's Head of Policy Unit Tim Aker.

"Firstly this of course does nothing to stop anyone from inside the EU who claims to be a jobseeker coming into the UK. That's the long and short of it. Immigration matters must be tackled at the border and we can’t do that until we leave the EU.

"A far more effective filter, if we had control of our borders, would be to have migrants learn English before they come to the UK.

"Of course that is illegal under EU law and according to the recent Spending Review, migrants will instead be sent on taxpayer-funded language courses to learn English. It is an absurd situation."

they can still enter Britain claim benefits and disappear amongst all the rest flooding in, sounds like a step in the right direction
