Punjab Police beats up woman at Bereta police station

Once again the ugly face of Punjab police was revealed yesterday and at the
receiving end was a 20-year-old girl.

In a shocking incident, a Punjab
Police constable severely beat up the girl at the Bereta police station in
Mansa, while his colleagues stood by.

The girl is a resident of Khudaal
village and was accused of theft.

She along with another girl was in
police custody for the past two days. Sources said Bereta SHO Sikander Singh had
ordered to beat up the girl.

However, when the female staff refused to
obey his order, he asked a policeman to do so.

As per the Punjab
government directive, women cannot be summoned to police station alone and
cannot be kept in custody.
