UK Accident, Councils Fail to Grit Roads

Yesterday, as I was returning from my local food store, I witnessed the spectacle of an overturned car. Police, ambulance and a fire tender where all ready there as I pulled up.

The vehicle had attempted to take a corner but instead had skidded on ice, hit the kerb, then rolled. The car had crashed through the railings of a children’s’ swing park, carried on through the park and completed its journey in the middle of an adjacent football pitch.

The driver was able to walk away, having received a minor head wound. No one else was injured.

This accident was entirely due to the local authority’s negligence in failing to secure stocks of grit. This was a busy road and in also a bus route.

The local press covered the story and has today, printed an article highlighting Renfrew District Council's failure of duty.
