  • Once I saw a brick fall from high up on a building site.
Just missed a guy's shoulder by four inches.

    Smashed his head in.

  • At the 00:25 mark it looks like a second bullet took out the passenger side brake light, too, so I'm doubting they just fell from the sky.

  • BULLSHIT! A falling bullet will not have the velocity nor the mass to kill anyone. You may get a bump and a bruise in the head, but it will not kill you..

  • Bullet shot in the air falls back at terminal velocity which is way too slow to cause significant damage

    • @Zzyzx let's then define terminal velocity and how fast it really is, then turn that falling object into a pointed piece of led, one of the heaviest and hard hitting substances, and this is what happens when it hits. You think it's going to bounce off? Hit head didn't blow off his shoulders like if he were hit from 20 yards, it just went right through his skull into his brain, dead as fuck.

  • People are fucking stupid. A bullet, if fired at the right angle, will retain it's ballistics/spin, just like an artillery round. Firing into the air as a celebration, is for the lowest form of retarded scum the DNA can create.

  • There is NO WAY ON EARTH that was a falling bullet... SORRY stalker6recon, but after a mile or so of horizontal OR Vertical travel, the bullets own resistance to air itself is enuff to slow it down to non lethal speeds, let alone a falling bullet which has been scientifically proven to be a MYTH.... terminal velocity and the impact is directly related to size, weight and dimensional shape, and bullets dont fall point first, they spin sideways, thus making it not much worse then being hit with a More..

They fall into a field, woods, or on a mountain. The presence of city-dwellers on the internet has an unfortunate effect on the popular understandings of reality, but just ignore their "never shoot a gun outside a 'proper' range" bullshit.

  • Terminal velocity of anything "Falling" back to the ground is around 120mph. Enough to hurt but not enough to kill. But if you're an uneducated dumb ass, I can see where you'd think that.

  • Nobody has ever died from fallen bullets. Ones shot up in the air that travel in an ark is a different story. But shooting straight up is merely stupid not deadly. Bullets fired straight up will reach however high it travels, slow to a stop, and then find it's terminal velocity on the way down. That velocity can't pierce shit. What do bullets weigh? All of pretty much nothing. They don't have the mass to hurt shit without an outside force like gunpowder propelling it. Gravity just doesn't cut it More..

      >>Gravity is the weakest natural force we know about

      Weaker than an Iraqi skull?
But seriously, the terminal velocity would be affected by the weight of the bullet, the bullet's aerodynamic stability and its composition (density). For a typical 150 grain, .30-cal, spire point, jacketed lead bullet that is fired upward it will stop spinning as it reaches apogee. As it falls, it can be expected to begin tumbling. That tumbling makes it very difficult to predict an More..

    • @four-oh-four But you're missing the point about what terminal velocity is. It can't ever fall faster than terminal velocity without an outside force giving it energy. The shape, weight, orientation, what have you will not effect it enough to make it fall fast enough to pierce us. Things like tumbling will only actually slow it some. But even if it's somehow spining in a perfect spiral all the way up and down it simply no longer has the force required to kill someone. lol Well anything lower th More..

You're probably right about somebody arcing the round. Hell, could've been a mile away. Looks like it tagged him right in the brain stem. Notice how everything just "turned off"?

  • This myth was busted a long time ago. A bullet can't kill someone after being fired straight up. Terminal velocity on all but the biggest rounds is too low to even penetrate skin. A 50 cal and bigger can make you bleed but can't kill you.

  • When someone gets married, someone dies....

Bullets fired into the air usually fall back with terminal velocities much lower than their muzzle velocity when they leave the barrel of a firearm. Nevertheless, people can be injured, sometimes fatally, when bullets discharged into the air fall back down to the ground. Bullets fired at angles less than vertical are more dangerous, as the bullet maintains its angular ballistic trajectory, is far less likely to engage in tumbling motion, and so trav More..

    • @Zoolander

i think a myth-busters episode proved a gun fired directly straight up or on a 5 - 10 degree angle from that would cause the round to just lose all "muzzle velocity" and then it would just be a very small piece of metal falling back to earth going about 7-30 MPH, or wtv terminal velocity is for something that weighs only a few grams.

but yea the proof is obvious when looking at all the deaths that happen from it, some asshole shooting his gun in the air is gonna kill More..
