Wake Turbulence associated with helicopters also results from high pressure air on the lower surface of the rotor blades flowing around the tips to the lower pressure region above the rotor blades. A hovering helicopter generates downwash from its main rotor(s) and once it hits the ground it begins moving outward which is refered to as outwash.
