  • At least the immigrants of before weren't trying to blow us up, were willing to integrate and were of the same faith or very compatible in general despite the hate at the beginning.

"Many of us with our high and mighty attitudes have been conditioned to hate and/or to look down on our own American ancestors..."

I've been here 52 years, and have yet to meet someone that has been conditioned to hate an American Ancestor.

      You're missing my point...

How people generally imagine their ancestors to look and to behave is oftentimes not the way they actually did...

Many of our ancestors were disheveled and undesirable... or were cultural misfits in the way they dressed, the foods they ate, and their beliefs and practices by the standards of the times and today's standards...

Many arrived illegally... as in as stowaways... as well as unlawfully... where they entered the country against the law.. More..

I guess I am missing your point.
I don't think many care if people were "disheveled and undesirable".

I don't care if they stowed away.

As long as they follow the immigration rules in obtaining citizenship, I'm good.

It would also be a bonus if, after becoming citizens, they tried to blend in to the larger American culture, and did not just become an enclave of their own.

The only thing I have ever objected to, are those masses that sneak in, breaking th More..

Legal and illegal immigration are two different concerns... and should be treated differently... albeit, the difference boils down to the ability to pay expenses and to show financial independence...

If we look closely, the factors that are driving illegal immigrants today are the same factors that drove first legal and then illegal immigrants to American during the New Immigration period and to its end... poverty and a desire for security.

Notably, most our ancestors, at lea More..

"the difference boils down to the ability to pay expenses and to show financial independence..."

      I disagree.

The difference (to me) boils down to a disrespect for the rules and will of a nation. An Illegal Immigrant has no respect for the sovereignty of a nation, or the rule of law.

      A legal immigrant does.

I welcome all legal immigrants. My ancestors were legal immigrants from Germany back in the 1800s.

  • notice oxymoron doublespeak "immigrant nation" where two words negate each other meaning. If it's immigrant it's no longer a nation and if it's a nation it can't be based on immigration. Nazi concentration camps were immigrant nations. Same story with melting pots of stalin gulags. So in the light of CIA lemon party gestapo rainbowlution we are treating as if USA was utilized by US as rainbow al-qaeda base. well i'm not exactly american. i was living in NYC when i registered this account. Thats the reason for the flag. I don't even have a green card. I returned back to lithuania in 2005 after about decade in the states. So if talking about "immigrant nation" it's complete and utter bullshit. I tried to immigrate to america for 10 years to no avail while being there. In essence i exhausted all rigged options that were not even there to begin with. So any so called "immigr More..

  • I don't see these people as immigrants. These are Western settlers and colonizers. They helped expand the ethnic American nation. I do however view non-whites as immigrants.
