0 Police hunt elderly mobility scooter driver after woman, 90, is injured in hit-and-run
A 90-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident involving a mobility scooter driven by a man in his 70s, police said today.
The elderly woman was on the pavement in High Street, Sandown, Isle of Wight, on Tuesday when the crash happened and the scooter failed to stop.
'It's alleged she was involved in a collision with a mobility scooter driven by a man aged in his 70s,' a police spokesman said.
'The woman, from Essex, was taken to hospital to be treated for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
'The man on the scooter was described as an elderly man with white hair, in his 70s, and we are looking for him,' he added.
