Clashes between protesters and police near Golden Dawn offices

Clashes between protesters and police began in Thessaloniki on Wednesday after protesters tried to break police roadblocks leading towards the Golden Dawn offices on Kazantzaki street.

Both policemen and riot squad teams had orders to block protesters' access to Golden Dawn and in response the protesters began throwing rocks, bottles and other items at them.

So far 20 suspects have been arrested by police.

Protests throughout Greece began on Wednesday after a 35-year-old anti-racist campaigner and hip-hop artist was killed on Tuesday night, reportedly by a sympathiser with the Golden Dawn political party. A 45-year-old male was arrested following the attack and has confessed to the crime.
