Gunners view from a turret shortly before US withdrawal (Tikrit,Iraq)
Part of channel(s): Iraq (current event)

(November 2nd, 2011) NEW - Gunners view from a scout vehicle in Iraq shortly before US withdrawal. No fighting but it gives you a sense of what could be going through the mind of these turret gunners as they scan constantly for the enemy, weary of ambushes while under constant threat of IED's. My hats off to these guys including our troops still stationed in Afghanistan. My respects.

(B-Troop, 1-94 Cavalry, Army National Guard) 11-2-2011 . Part of security detail for Air Force Combat Trucker Convoy. Tikrit, Iraq.

Tikrit (Arabic: تكريت‎, Tikrīt also transliterated as Takrit or Tekrit) is a town in Iraq, located 140 km northwest of Baghdad on the Tigris river

  • You know that eerie feeling you get when you enter a haunted house? This video gave me that feeling. I can't imagine having to do that every damn day.

  • It's hilarious how many Iraqis are celebrating our withdrawal, yet after we left there have been more bombings and deaths than there have been in years. Oh well, I guess they can celebrate that too.

  • yeah my hat is off to these guys as well. I am in the Air Force and feel like a wuss sometimes when people thank me for my service. These are the true heroes of our country.

different mission and support to the country from the USAF i know, but still...

I usually don't reply much but i must say that the USAF kicks total ass and are just as respected in my opinion. The most technologically advanced and most powerful AF in the world.

Without you guys, our soldiers would be in much greater danger, air support plays one of the most vital roles in modern warfare.

      Thanks for your service buddy.

  • eeeyeah!! Kinda hard to stay relaxed in a place your country invaded under the false pretences that Saddam was going to attack the whole world with WEAPONS OF MASS DISTRUCTION!!.....which they never found, and ended up just making money instead while the region continued to turn from peaceful to volatile. My heart goes out to the Iraqi families that lost their loved ones as a result of the american invasion!

    • @hwnguy79 Saddam, wasn't he the guy that the USA supported & financed for decades as part of the cold war?

And who delivered the chemical weapons to Saddam? Our long time Iraqi strongman and ally? The good ole US of A, want me to be more descriptive and put a face on it? Donald Rumsfeld.
Those "sites" the UN inspectors went to, those were the sites the US gov help build in agreement with the Iraqis.

I hope they enjoy their civil war.

    • @weada yeah, what they need is a strong leader who takes no shit from anyone and conducts his business within Iraq ruthlessly..bit like the guy we got rid of actually.

    • @altai8008 The coalition was working along the same nation rebuilding model of Germany post WW2. It all could have worked out very well for Iraq but unfortunately islam and its endless capacity for savagery ensured the country didn't have a chance of a positive outcome.
