-1 Crimea declares independence and applies to join Russia
The Crimean Supreme Council has passed the decree favored by 85 lawmakers. It has also announced that all Ukrainian state property on the peninsula would be nationalized. The document says the Republic of Crimea appeals to the United Nations and to all countries to recognize it as an independent state. Based on the final results of the referendum, nearly 97 percent of people voted in favor of annexation to Russia. Meanwhile Ukraine's parliament has endorsed a presidential decree to carry out a partial mobilization of 40-thousand reservists, within the armed forces and the newly created National Guard.
