Crack-Smoking Suspect Tasered and arrested After High Speed Police Chase

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. -- A Georgia man was in custody Friday in West Melbourne after a police chase that reached speeds of more than 110 miles an hour.

The man was wanted for two armed robberies in the last 24 hours and mugging a woman earlier this week.

Palm Bay police officers told that the suspect was actually smoking crack as the chase was going on.

According to West Melbourne police, Kelly Shane Boyd was armed with a knife or razor when he demanded cash at a Wendy's restaurant on West New Haven Avenue early Thursday evening.

Investigators said Boyd was also armed with a handgun.

Boyd was able to flee from the Wendy's with a small amount of cash, but witnesses spotted the vehicle, a Mitsubishi Eclipse, and the Georgia tag that was registered to Boyd.

Investigators said Boyd was also a suspect in an armed robbery at the Walgreens on Minton Road in Palm Bay on Frida
