NATO member Turkey buys the Russian S-400 Anti Air System

It costed 2,5 billion dollars. Earlier today, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey has made the first payment in the framework of the agreement on the delivery of the Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems. At the end of July, the US Defense Department announced that they are concerned about the incompatibility of the Russian S-400 anti-missile systems that Turkey can buy from Russia.

  • Something media failed to mention so far is fact that because these SAMs are from Russia and not from NATO, Turks will be free to deploy them where they please. Notably along their Western coast facing another NATO member -Greece. Similar deal with USA would restrict Turkey from deploying them there.

Turks allying with Russia (and in extension with Iran and China) will be geopolitical bombshell of the century ...if it's going to last. It will shake US New World Order by magnitude of mega-volc More..

The next target of Nato after Syria is Caucasus area (like Abasia for example).
But we Turkish secularists have taken our army back from Gulenists. So, we wouldn't let NATO in black sea even if we didn't buy S-400 from Russia.

    • @krak.en Yes but Greece was always in Brotherhood with Russia (orthodoxs bros). thats why i can't understand why they choose to sell their latest technology missiles to Turkey.. i also can understand that this is due to have more power in middle east but also we all know from history that Turks are backstabbers..

This is pure pragmatism and it's not going to be good for Greece of course. Problem is that with exception of some sentimental stuff, Greece did not offer anything to Russia. Nor is Greece in a shape to offer anything because it's basically run by Brussels and IMF. Despite voicing reservations, Greece was voting for EU sanctions against Russia and when offered South Stream pipe, Greek government have turned it down under EU pressure.

Turks on the other hand agreed to South Stream ( More..

Good luck matte. Things are changing in the world and that change will bring new options for Greece and other nations of Europe as well. I wish you to find leaders who will be able to use those options for benefit of Greece when time comes. Leaders who won't sell their people off like most European leaders do right now.

In the grand scheme of things, what is happening in Turkey today is good, not bad. In fact we should pray for Erdogans safety and well being, because international More..

  • kinda makes you wonder why Russia would sell them to a nato member, not to mention one that just shot down a Russian jet. you would think that they might be worried about the tech being analyzed so it can be defeated. oh wait never mind.

They usually start to sell stuff after newer version is available. Russia is to soon rearm with the newer S-500.

    • @rmacl Russia says it has guarantees (not agreements) in place that would prevent the sharing of technology between NATO members. Similar to the s-300, once it gets old enough and a successor is created, security becomes a bit more lax. Like Greece hosting NATO war games to test out the S-300.

Personally, I wouldnt trust a Turk further than I could throw them. They have switched sides more times than any other nation

    • @rmacl It's the 21st century. SAMs are as relevant as bayonet charges and trench warfare and mustard gas. That's the dirty secret.

Every time one of these expensive missiles are launched to take down a disposable drone, it's a win for the side that was flying the drone.

  • S400 system FAR MORE superior then the old patriot system. No denieng that. Period, that's the main reason the Turks bought it, why wouldn't they? I mean S400 is the most advanced weapon in its category. Patriots do come short compared to the S400.

AmeriCUNTS triggered with their shitty weapons, LOL, fucking retards kill more civilians in Syria then ISIS just like in Iraq. Shitty army, ...
