South Carolina Serial Killer Shot And Killed In Gaston County. Officer: "We have him. He's our serial killer."

The man who shot five people in Gaffney, S.C., was Patrick Tracy Burris, 41, of Lincoln County.

It has been confirmed that the Gaffney, South Carolina serial killer suspect, the man who shot five people, is the same man shot and killed by police during a botched North Carolina burglary. The suspect has been identified as 41-year-old Patrick Tracy Burris.

Burris has a long criminal history beginning with blackmail in 1989 and ending with convictions for being a habitual felon, felony breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering in 2001. He was convicted of crimes in both Rockingham and Alamance counties.

Burris was released from prison April 29 and was supposed to be on parole until Jan. 24, 2010, according to the N.C. Departmentof Correction. His current location was listed as Lincoln County.

His sentencing history also includes convictions of driving with a revoked license, forgery, common law uttering and larceny, according to the N.C. Departmentof Correction.

According to Lincoln County Sheriff TIm Daugherty, Burris lived on Chambers Lane in Vale, in Western Lincoln County. His last incarceration in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center was on June 12 for Driving While License Revoked.

Burris has an extensive criminal history beginning with blackmail in 1989 and ending with convictions for being a habitual felon, felony breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering in 2001. He has convictions in Maryland and Florida, including two armed robberies and weapons violations.

Burris was released from prison April 29 and was supposed to be on parole until Jan. 24, 2010.
