Police release identity of suspect in random shooting near Stettler

The RCMP are now releasing the name of the man involved in what
police are calling the random shooting of a woman near Stettler Monday.
Police say Dustin Goddu, 31, of Red Deer, did not know the woman who was shot while walking along an area road Monday morning.

Stettler RCMP said they were called to the area around 9 a.m. on a report that a woman had been shot.

Immediately following the incident, a STARS helicopter was dispatched
out of Calgary, and transported the shooting victim from the Stettler
hospital to Foothills Hospital in Calgary.
Police quickly located the suspect, but he fled from officers on the
scene – but police managed to contain him to a forested area near Fleet,
RCMP confirmed the suspect turned the gun on himself several hours later.

The victim's name has not been released by police. The extent of her injuries is not known at this time.
