Dash-cam shows deputy sheriff hitting deer at 114 mph

A Minnesota sheriff’s deputy is lucky to be alive after the squad car he was driving collided with a deer Saturday morning, Oct. 21.

The deputy is being commended for choosing not to swerve to avoid the deer, but hitting it head-on instead. In the Facebook post, Isanti County Sheriff Chris Caulk says, “if the deputy swerved, he would have rolled and been injured or worse. Staying in a straight line kept the injuries to a minimum when the air bags deployed.”
