Lasers don't make any sound.
@moefugger Haha! They do in my fantasy world, smartass ;>
It's not the laser, it's the driver that propels it from the blaster.
Yeah, and explosions in space don't make a ring shape either. There's plenty wrong with those movies if you approach them scientifically. But that's not the kind of movies they are.
Star Wars used a crescent wrench and a power pole support cable. They showed it on "That's Hollywood"...longer ago than I care to admit.
I remember a doco made years ago by George Lucas where he reveals how the sound effect for the Tie-Fighter lasers were made by hitting a high tension wire rope with a shifting spanner. At the time it was better than anything computer generated
@chewybiscuit Yep, I saw the same one, pretty cool!
My dick makes a similar noise when my girlfriend sucks on it.
For whatever reason, that sound is very pleasing to my ear.
Did he die?
@locust76 You're the idiot here.
@locust76 That's hollywood for you.
That's exactly how George Lucas's team did it in the late 70's, went around sampling different "instruments" found around the area.
i'mma firin' muh lay-zahh..
pew pew pew
Lucas actually used the noise from plucking the guide wires that hold the radio tower antennaes up same concept
Uh oh, he's figured out George locuses secrets.
He didn't tap fast enough for my liking. Nobody shoots that slow with a laser gun.
You discovered Ben Burtt's well-known non-secret for the blaster sounds from Star Wars. Welcome to the party 35 years later....
That was similar to what they actually did used for the sound effect in Star Wars
@tony1970 Yup, they knocked on tension wires with a hammer.
These aren't the Droids you are looking for.
This is exactly how they made those sounds for films like Star Wars.
really? this was featured... LAMELeak
I seem to recall something about how they made the laser sound by striking high tension steel cables..
@MAKMAK for star wars yes, also the light saber was a microphone moved in close proxy to electric cables? We must have watched the same thing.
And some old half broken down film projector for the crunchy light saber sounds :D
I wonder if that's where George Lucas got the sound for the guns in Star Wars lol
They certainly went out and recorded high tension wires being twanged, it's in a documentary I haven't seen for years.
@ommadawn I read that after I made the this post...good idea considering they didnt have the greatest digital samples back them.
@brakesnotbreaksdumbass One word? Looks like two..
Or is it indeed the laser that makes pipe noise?!
