Safe Mode: On
Aleppo, the FSA and the reality on the ground - report by AJE
Part of channel(s): Syria (current event)

Original title:Foreign fighters join the battle of Aleppo
At the frontline in Aleppo city, the young fighters are mainly from the countryside of the province. It has not been easy to stand up against the Syrian army, especially when the city did not rise up when rebels stormed some poor neighbourhoods and set up bases. While the majority of the fighters in Aleppo are Syrians, the war has however attracted Arabs who feel obliged to help the opposition who are mainly Sunni Muslims.

Al Jazeera's Zeina Khodr reports from Aleppo city.

Now, one sincere question for all of the LLers - Would you like to have your own town or city overrun by half-literate hillbillies joined by foreign religious wacos (preferably Wahhabis/Salafis) ???

  • Like the FSA Terrorist said, there are only a few syrian citizens from Aleppo which a are fighting. The rest ist from outside.

Over 80% are pro Assad. Get over it!

Yup! Most are uneducated peasents, radicals from within and foreigners.

    • @Neutrinum The vast majority are against assad. The only people for Assad are the Alawite/shia and parts of the christian community which in total. . . even if they were unanimously in support of assad would equal 20%

No, it isn't so simplistic as that.
about 70% of the population are Sunnis, they are mostly AGAINST Assad, especially since the beginning of the conflict, that does not mean that they are automatically for the rebels, they are splintered in many many groups (sects, from ultra conservative to free minded)

About 13% of the Syrians are Alawits (Assad's followers)Then there are Christians, mostly Assads' followers as well. And then there are a dozen of minority mixed religious groups, More..

    • @SunniLebanese they are clearly not nearly as pro-Assad as they are against extremism in general.
Your problem is that you think in sectarian lines. Not an Allawite must make you against Assad. There's your problem right there. You can't accept anyone else but your own. In the UK or most of Europe, centuries ago, the support of a ruler is no longer an Issue. Cathloics have no issue with protestants running the country because they have certain rights (to vote for example)
Just N. Ireland is the More..

    • @SunniLebanese Yes that true. The Alawite and christians are the minority. But there is something you should know about Syrian people. They are not that religious thats why they don't snackbar. They are very open minded about that. The most sunnis have no problems with the alawites and christians. It's just the media that want us to believe they are against each other.

Good riddance FSA, obviously the people don't support you.

  • From this report it is more than obvious that the FSA is not genuine people's movement nor that the Syrian Uprising is a genuine popular uprising .

FSA is foreign sponsored Salafi/Wahhabi Islamist insurgent force and the Uprising is nothing more than a Wahhabi rebellion greased with foreign money (90% Gulf/Saudi).

If all of this was really genuine, with broad popular support as the FSA and their cheerleaders claim, than Assad and his regime would have crumbled long ago as did Ceausescu's in R More..

  • "Muslims from all over the world". Al Qaeda, Saudi Arabians, Egyptians, Chechens, Arabs, etc. And U.S. government workers are not allowed to refer to "Islamic jihad" in planning.

Step 1: Stick head in sand.
Step 2: Hope it will all just go away.

  • Let me try to explain this to you Americans, If your country was being overrun by the CHinese or your military was turned against your cities, do you think the well-to-do bankers and financial workers in New York would stand a chance fighting against the chinese or the military? No! Your "rednecks" and "hillbilly" with their own arsenals would have to come and fight in the streets of New york and defend your populations. I remember watching the movie Red Dawn with Patrick sw More..

Ah - the usual quid pro quo ...

Tell me dear, who's occupying and harassing who here (in Aleppo's case, of course)??

FSA and their brethren and allies are bunch of Wahhabi pricks terrorizing and harassing ordinary Syrians with their idiotic political views.

They are using the brutality of Assad's regime only as an excuse for their own mischief and savagery ...

And besides all - they are Saudi puppets ...

Oh, now the Bosnian card - trying change the topic aren't you ...

Man, what you like and believe to be, do not change the reality on the ground - it is plain and obvious - people calling themselves FSA (which is only an umbrella name/front cover because of PR reasons) are Wahhabis by wide majority

BTW, the Iranians helped the Bosnians also, so what, I should hate the Shia also ... ?? And so did late Saddam and Gaddafi - so by your supreme logic, I should hate the secular Arab reg More..
