DC nonprofits demand passage of Large Retailer Accountability Act

On the 13th of May, a number of DC area nonprofits and community groups
staged a rally on the steps of the Wilson Building to demand passage of
the Large Retailer Accountability Act. The DC Jobs Council, NAACP,
LiLuna, and ALF-CIO were all present.

The bill would require retailers whose corporate parents make at least $
billion a year and whose stores have at least 75,000 square feet of
space to pay a wage of at least $11.75 an hour. They would also be
required to offer cerrtain benefits as well.
