More civilian deaths reported in Gaza

Israel has reportedly claimed the lives of more Palestinian civilians by shelling a heavily populated shopping center in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli mortal shells have exploded in the middle of a heavily populated district, killing five Palestinian civilians and wounding 40 others.

The incident comes shortly after Israeli warplanes launched closely timed attacks on an ambulance in northern Gaza.

Civilian casualties reached a new height on Sunday, after Israeli tanks and artillery killed at least 12 Palestinians -- mostly civilians -- in the Gaza Strip only a day after Israel launched its ground offensive into the Palestinian territory.

Based on reports, four of the victims are members of the same family and were killed when a shell hit their home.

In response to the unrelenting attacks, Palestinian fighters have destroyed at least two Israeli armored vehicles.
