Ali, a Syrian refugee and former professional footballer player, showed off his skills at the Idomeni refugee camp in northern Greece on Monday.

The young man from Hama played for Taliya SC in Syria, and now dreams of plying his trade in Spain. "Since I was a child I dreamt of going to Spain to play with Barcelona, but I do not know if I can go to Spain," he said.

SOT, Ali, Former Syrian professional football player (Arabic): "Since I was a child I dreamt of going to Spain to play with Barcelona, but I do not know if I can go to Spain. It is not necessary to go to Barcelona, if I have to play against Barcelona FC it would not be a problem."

SOT, Ali, Former Syrian professional football player (Arabic): "I do not have any choice, I would go to Spain if they gave me a choice. In the future I will go to Spain but right now my only option is Germany."

SOT, Ali, Former Syrian professional football player (Arabic): "I started my trip from a Turkish island. We decided to cross the sea swimming, we started at 20.30 at night. Altogether there was four of us; three of us continued and one turned back. We swam between 2-to-3 hours to reach a Greek island."
