Daniel Ellsberg: "The United Stasi of America." - NSA leaks

"Edward Snowden's decision tohttp://www.theverge.com/2013/6/6/4403328/leaked-verizon-nsa-surveillance-court-order
from the National Security Agency (NSA) has drawn praise from Daniel
Ellsberg, the former military analyst responsible for leaking the
Pentagon Papers more than four decades ago. In a piece www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/jun/10/edward-snowden-,
Ellsberg hailed Snowden's leak as the most important in US history,
arguing that it has exposed an "executive coup" against the US
constitution.[...]

"The NSA, FBI and CIA have, with the new digital technology, surveillance powers over our own citizens that the Stasi
– the secret police in the former 'democratic republic' of East Germany
– could scarcely have dreamed of," Ellsberg writes. "Snowden reveals
that the so-called intelligence community has become the United Stasi of
America."
