LVMPD Released Body Cam and Surveillance Footage of Irate Resident Shooting

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has released new details in Thursday morning’s officer-involved shooting west of the Strip.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred at an apartment complex located at 4100 West Viking Road, near Valley View Boulevard and Twain Avenue around 9:10 a.m. on reports of a person with a firearm.

An individual victim told dispatch an irate resident was inside the complex office confronting an employee and as officers arrived they heard gunfire coming from the office.

Officers confronted the suspect who armed with a handgun inside the office and one fired a single round at the suspect but did not strike him.

The suspect put the firearm down and was transported to University Medical Center as a precaution.

A victim who was identified as a maintenance employee suffering from multiple gunshot wounds was also transported to UMC Trauma with non-life threatening injuries.

All officers at the scene were uninjured and the incident marked the first officer-involved shooting for the agency in 2020.

Per standard protocol, the identity of the officer involved in the shooting will be released within 48 hours.
