Henderson TX Police Attacked With Fireworks

HENDERSON, Texas (KETK) - The Henderson Police Department is investigating after a crowd shot fireworks at officers on Independence Day.

According to the HPD, on Wednesday around 10:00 p.m., an officer responded to the area of Webster Drive and Robertson Street in reference to fireworks being shot within the Henderson city limits.

When the officer arrived on scene, police say there were multiple people popping fireworks.

As the officer attempted to disperse the crow, many of the subjects began shooting fireworks at the officer and his patrol car.

The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Highway Patrol and the Mt. Enterprise City Marshal all assisted with the call.

The people were reportedly shooting Roman Candles and throwing “Artillery Shells” at officers and their patrol cars.

Several patrol cars were damaged and two people were injured.

A RCSO deputy received minor burns on their arm and a female bystander had minor injuries.

Neither of the injured parties sought medical attention.

Two people were arrested for engaging in organized criminal activity.

The HPD expects to make more arrest.
