Baltimore Co. Police Release Body-Worn Camera Video Of November Shooting

Shooting at 11:45

Baltimore County police on Thursday released audio from a 911 call and police radio, in addition to video from body-worn cameras related to a November shooting on Interstate 83 that left a Parkton man dead. Through an attorney, the man's family said the video proves the shooting was unnecessary.
"The men and women in our police department encounter uncertain situations and make split-second decisions every day. Releasing video of someone losing his life is never taken lightly," Chief Melissa Hyatt said. "The release of today’s video is in alignment with our recently announced BWC Release Policy and the Maryland Public Information Act."

Attorney Chelsea Crawford, who is representing Catherine Sopp, said the video showed "an unnecessary use of force."

"There was no excuse for this officer to shoot and kill an unarmed man," Crawford said.
