Yellow vests leader Jerome Rodrigues may be 'disabled for life'

The lawyer of the prominent yellow vests protester injured in the eye during a demonstration in Paris has said that he fears he will disabled for life, according to reports.

Reports say that Jerome Rodrigues claims he was struck by a rubber bullet fired from a so-called flash ball, the controversial hand-held weapon launcher deployed by French police in riots.

Video has emerged of the immediate aftermath of the incident showing the injured Rodrigues, who is conscious but has blood seeping from his eye, lying on the ground, surrounded by people trying to help him. Some of them are wearing helmets with the words "street medic" written on them.

Rodrigues was injured at Place de la Bastille on Saturday afternoon (January 26) during the 11th weekend of protests by the gilet jaunes.
