30-year-old Sakhalin resident drowned while moving a minibus

On August 18, at 09:30 a message was received in the Korsakov interdistrict investigative department of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Sakhalin Region that a body of an unidentified man, presumably a 30-year-old resident of Dalniy, was found on the bank of the Uryum River in Anivsky District.

According to the regional investigative committee, during the inspection of the scene it was established that a Toyota Hiace minibus drowned on the Uryum River, in which there were three people. Two of them were saved, one died.

Presumably, the death of a man occurred as a result of mechanical asphyxia due to the closure of the respiratory tract with fluid during drowning.

According to eyewitnesses, the company moving the river in a minibus was drunk.

Toyota Hiace was not prepared for such crossings of the spilled river. When crossing the reservoir, a too long cable was used. He weakened, it washed away from the hook of the car, the minibus began to float down the river.

Currently, investigators are conducting an audit of this fact, the circumstances and causes of what happened are being established. The audit will be made a procedural decision.
