Myanmar police fire live rounds at protesters in deadly street battle

Myanmar police opened fire on protesters this morning (February 28) killing at least six people and injuring dozens more.

Footage shows the chaotic scene in the Hledan area of the former capital Yangon as officers open fire in the street and residents flee in terror. Two people were shot during the exchanges, with one killed and one seriously injured.

Pictures from the brutal crackdown showed a bloodbath with injured protesters being carried away by paramedics.

The unrest came a month after the military ousted former leader Aung San Suu Kyi from power on February 1 and seized control of state operations. The Nobel Peace Prize Laurette has not been seen or heard from since and concern is growing for her welfare.
