MCSO deputy shoots, kills pit bull after it attacks K-9

Youngtown, AZ - The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office released Wednesday graphic of a deputy shooting and killing a dog that went on the attack against a K9 in Youngtown last week.

The 40-second clip shows a deputy with the K9 Tarzan walking up to a home near 111th and Peoria avenues on Aug. 4 just after 9 p.m. The two deputies are just outside the fence.

A dog comes out and is initially called by a woman to come over to her. But then the dog comes toward the deputy and the K9.

"You need to secure that dog," the deputy tells the woman as the dog gets closer to the K9. "Secure that dog!"

The shows the dog attacking the K9 and the deputy couldn't separate the two. Then the deputy fires three shots.

The dog died.

K9 Tarzan had injuries to his face and chest, including a broken tooth, MCSO said
