Algeria buries repatriated skulls of resistance fighters as it marks independence from France

Algeria has marked its 58th independence anniversary with the repatriation of the skulls of 24 Algerian resistance fighters from France.

The skulls of anti-colonial fighters, decapitated by the French and taken back to France as “war trophies,” have been kept since the 19th century in the Musee de l'Homme, an anthropology museum in Paris.
