Bodycam Shows Tulsa K9 Pull Child Abuse Suspect From Bathtub

On July 11th 2019, Tulsa Police K9 unit was called in to track down the suspect, Tyvon Eugene Mumphrey who was believed to be hiding inside a home in the 1800 block of North Madison.

Mumphrey was wanted on suspicion of forcing two people from a van at gunpoint and throwing a 2-year-old child from the vehicle onto the ground.

The video shows backup officer Woods see Mumphrey in the bathroom but the K9 officer Kahn wasn’t alerted to the suspect hiding behind the shower curtain, this happens twice.

When asked “Did that endanger the officers?” Officer Woods responded, “Oh absolutely. I know that one of our officers had backed into that room for cover not knowing he (Mumphrey) was in the shower."

Officer Woods had taken this opportunity to give Kahn the K9 officer some training to find suspects behind a shower curtain.

Mumphrey is charged with child abuse, robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
