Israeli airstrike on Gaza leaves senior Palestinian commander dead

An Israeli airstrike on the Gaza Strip has killed a senior commander for the Palestinian resistance group, Islamic Jihad.
The airstrike targeted the house of Islamic Jihad field commander Baha Abu al-Atta in Gaza City. The attack also killed his wife and wounded two more people. The Israeli military has confirmed the airstrike, saying Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu authorized the operation. Palestinians have fired several rockets at southern Israel following al-Atta’s death. The Islamic Jihad has also threatened to retaliate its commander’s murder. Tel Aviv accuses al-Atta of carrying out a series of rocket, drone and sniper attacks against Israel.
