FBI: Charlotte FAA employee charged with possession of weapon of mass destruction

CHARLOTTE — An air traffic controller at Charlotte Douglas International Airport www.wcnc.com/news/crime/charlotte-faa-employee-charged-with- after investigators alleged he was in possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

According to the FBI, Paul George Dandan, 30, was charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction. He is currently being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail under a $45,000 bond.

The FBI said they are assisting Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police with their investigation and that they don't anticipate federal charges to be filed against Dandan at this time.

The FAA confirmed to WCNC that Dandan’s access to the airport was terminated following his arrest Friday afternoon. Airport officials did not confirm if Dandan was still employed by the FAA.

Investigators did not specify the type of weapon Dandan possessed.
