SAA officially enter Idlib after capturing Ayn Al-Bayda

The Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade (commandos) of the Republican Guard have finally reached the strategic border with the Idlib Governorate after nearly 6 months of nonstop fighting with the extremist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the Latakia Governorate’s northeastern countryside.

On Friday morning in Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains), the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade – alongside the Syrian Marines, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade), and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – imposed full control over the strategic village of ‘Ayn Al-Bayda on the Idlib border after a violent battle with Jabhat Al-Nusra, the Free Syrian Army’s “1st Coastal Brigade”, and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham.

With the capture of ‘Ayn Al-Bayda this morning, the Syrian Armed Forces have officially reentered the Idlib Governorate after a 9 month long hiatus due to the successful offensive by Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest) last Spring. In addition to their advance into the Idlib Governorate, the Syrian Armed Forces have advanced another half kilometer towards the Turkish border, leaving only 2.5 km of territory left between them and final Jabal Al-Akrad crossings.

Only a small parcel of territory remains under rebel control in the Latakia Governorate; however, these last few kilometers will not be easy because villages like Kabani and Al-Sirmaniyah are surrounded by several steep hilltops that will make their capture even more difficult.
