Shopkeeper set ablaze by hooded thugs in suspected racist attack

This is the shocking moment flames engulfed an Anfield shopkeeper in a horrific arson inferno.

Jude Jeevan, 48, fell head-first into the flames after slipping on fuel poured into his shop by two hooded firestarters.

Today the Sri Lankan – who spent weeks in hospital after suffering serious burn injuries – relived the disturbing drama as police stepped up a hunt for the arsonists.

The two men, in hooded purple tracksuits, entered his Robinsons News shop on Priory Road at 9pm on Saturday, June 8.

They shouted racist abuse at him while squirting fuel over the shop floor before igniting it with a flicked cigarette.

Jude told the ECHO: “I am lucky to be alive.
